I had challenges trying to compact my research paper into a smaller project. I did enjoy changing it into a power point because I like power points and I think they're easy and simple for people to understand. But when I realized I was having troubles trying to condense my paper, I just tried to take out the main points of my paper and put those into bullet points. Then I tried to find pictures that would best go along with the main points.
My purpose of the remediation project was to explain my topic and argument as simple as possible. I wanted the audience to really understand the controversy so I tried to give an equal amount of attention to both sides of the argument, so they would have a clear understanding. I think I did a decent job at the remediation, I probably could have done better had I not started off with a research paper and the assignment was just the power point itself. But I think for a first time doing this kind of project I think it turned out alright. When I watched it over again I was able to understand the main arguments pretty well so hopefully people who didn't read my research paper or haven't heard of anything on the controversy, that they got a pretty solid understanding.
I felt like my audience changed when I made the power point because I felt like my research paper has a more limited audience of adults and or teachers of some sort. But when I changed it to a power point, I feel like my audience shifted to younger people, more around my age. I felt like that made the tone of my argument change from a more formal to informal, and less factual to more visual.
I found that I had to do a lot of research for the research paper, and when creating the power point, I had to figure out a way to get my information across with less research and more pictures and visuals. Rather than looking up facts I was looking up pictures and adding animations that I thought fit best with the words/pictures.

media project plan
For my media project I am going to make a power point. I chose this one because I think power points are easy and understandable. Especially because for my paper I wrote about e-cigarettes, I think that power point are perfect for the more recent events. Power points are also easy for the viewers to understand. If you keep the audience entertained with visuals and sounds and keeps the sentences short, they will be more interested making it easier for them to understand.
In my power point, I am going to use pictures, videos, and my voice, and of course some writing. I think that it will be easier to get my message out through power point rather than my paper. If I can make cool visuals and put a video or 2 in there, people hopefully be interested. Because e-cigarettes are so controversial I can put good and bad visuals in my presentation. I will address both sides of the argument of course, allowing for more open mindedness.

Remediation for my research paper could be transformed in many different forms. If I was going to change the format of my research paper, I would probably change it to a media project. Because my paper is about e-cigarettes, that would make sense to do a media project due to the very recent controversy on them. I also feel like this would be the best way to get the information from my research paper across to the audience.
I would have to definitely have to cut out much of the background and tobacco information. This project would be much more persuasive so it would need to be a little shorter only including the important info. The audience that would probably be reading my paper would be the people that are interested in the health risks of e-cigarettes, so I would pick a couple main points, and keep my opinion out of it.

Research paper reflection
For my research paper, at first I was going to write about tobacco and it's increase or decrease in use because I had to chose a topic that had something to do with public health. But then when I started doing more research on it, I found much more information on the controversy of e-cigarettes. I wrote about that and whether or not they are the healthier alternative to tobacco cigarettes. I did have to narrow my topic down to the e-cigarette so that made it much easier. One of my challenges was keeping my ideas organized, but when I got feedback from my teacher on how to organize them it made much more sense of what I was supposed to do. Another challenge for me was coming up with a thesis and remembering how exactly to write a research paper, because I hadn't done it in a couple years, and even then I was not properly taught how to write one.
The difference between this research paper and the first assignment was that this one you were reporting much more information than the last paper. On the last assignment we had to write about writing, but for this one we got to write about a current event and there was opinion in it as well. I think I liked writing the research paper more because I was able to have my input as well as facts. Also I like writing current events papers because I feel like I am getting much more out of that than I am any other paper.

Are e-cigarettes really better than regular cigarettes? what are the health risks of smoking e-cigarettes? Are they really supporting no smoking? Or is this another trend that attracts youth more than it does push them away from the idea of smoking? more/less smoking?
they try to decrease smoking in youths and young adults, but is this just a more attractive way of smoking?

- Introduction- recent trends, background info, thesis, controversy on e cigarettes
- major arguments- why are they making these arguments? people who support e cigarettes and people who do not support them
- what is problematic about these arguments; analyze the concerns and logic
- my opinion- support my thesis, use evidence from other sources
- my arguments, 3-4
